Abstract:  The advent of low-cost sensors and embedded processors has fundamentally changed the engineering landscape.  This newfound ability to measure “everything” has created opportunities (and problems) involving data processing, visualization, and interpretation.  Come learn how Creare, a local research and development firm, is addressing these challenges as we work to develop new technologies for healthcare, remote sensing, and industrial metrology.

The speaker will also provide some reflections on his experience working in firms that focus on research and development, as well as product development.

Bio:  David Kynor is a Principal Engineer at Creare LLC and Vice President of Edare Inc.  Creare is an engineering research and development firm that started a number of local companies including Hypertherm and Fluent.  Edare is our newest venture and is focused on small volume production of high-technology products.  Mr. Kynor has an MS degree from University of California, San Diego in Electrical Engineering and Applied Ocean Science (in conjunction with Scripps Institution of Oceanography).  He also has a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University.
