Professor Michael Casey's courses include interactive music and art, music theory, music cognition and neuroscience, sound analysis and synthesis, and music information retrieval. His research lab works on music understanding by humans and machines, how the human brain represents music, theories of music and mind, and neural decoding of musical sound from human brain imaging. Michael is jointly appointed in the Department of Music and the Department of Computer Science at Dartmouth. He was chair of the department of music from 2009 to 2013 and 2016-2018.
