Apart from completing prerequisite and core courses, a CS Major is required to take elective courses to gain better depth of knowledge in one or more of the course categories. We encourage students to talk to the undergraduate advisor and other faculty members to discuss which electives would be best suited for them.

Any course in (30-89) that is not a core course requirement is an allowed elective course. Students are also allowed to choose one of these three electives to be a self-driven Reading Course (COSC 94). Students enrolled before Fall 2026, who will fulfil previous rather than updated requirements for their degree, may also choose a MATH course numbered 20 or above which is not a Math prereq (so, not MATH 22/24).
